This Privacy Policy explains how CalcPlex (“CalcPlex”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit calcplex.com (the “Website”). It applies only to information we collect through the Website, and not to information collected from other sources. By using the Website, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Like most websites, we automatically receive standard technical information that your browser sends when you visit, such as your browser type, device type, language preference, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your request. We use this information to understand how visitors use the Website and to keep it running reliably. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not intentionally collect your name, address, or payment details. If you email us, we receive whatever information you choose to include so that we can reply. If you send us feedback through a form on the Website, we receive what you write and the page you sent it from, along with the game or program it is about and, where the page knows them, the rating you gave and your calculator’s operating system version. From the code editor, the message also carries the editor’s technical details shown above the Send button (including your browser version) and, unless you untick it, a link that opens the program you were writing.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file that a website stores on your device and that your browser sends back on later visits. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, measure how the Website is used, and support advertising. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies in their settings, though some features of the Website may not work properly without them.
Advertising
CalcPlex is supported by advertising. We work with third-party advertising partners, including Google, that use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. These partners may use information about your visits to this and other websites to show ads that are more relevant to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by CalcPlex and does not cover how our advertising partners use cookies or other technologies on their own.
You can control personalized advertising using these tools:
- Google’s ad settings, at myadcenter.google.com
- The Digital Advertising Alliance, at optout.aboutads.info
- For visitors in the EU, the UK, and Switzerland, at youronlinechoices.eu
Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time using the consent controls on the Website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Website. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data on our behalf. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every website you visit by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on. For visitors in the EU, the UK, and Switzerland, Google Analytics does not set cookies unless you agree to them.
Connecting Your Calculator
Some pages on the Website can send programs, games, or your notes to a calculator over a USB cable. Your browser only allows this after you choose the calculator yourself. After a transfer, the page reads a few facts about the calculator: its operating system version, model, memory size and free memory, battery level, language setting, and whether test mode is on. On TI-84 Plus CE pages, the page reads similar facts when it connects, and uses four of them: the operating system version, the model, free memory, and whether the calculator is on its home screen. It also looks at the list of files on the calculator, to check there is room, whether a jailbreak is installed and which of our games and programs are on it, and it may read the jailbreak program, or a program with the same name as one of ours, to check it is the real one. From these pages we send the version, the model, how much free memory it has, whether the calculator is on its home screen, and what the checks found, such as whether a game fit, whether it replaced an older copy and whether a jailbreak is installed. These facts go to Google Analytics together with whether the transfer worked, as do the facts read after a transfer on other pages. The list of files and those programs are never sent to Google Analytics. On the same pages we also count which of our games or programs you sent, downloaded or deleted, how much room a delete freed, the reason you pick after a delete, the stars you give a game or program that was already on your calculator, whether you open the picture of the prgm key, which steps of the jailbreak installer you reach, what you pick when you tell the installer or a games page that something went wrong, whether you open the help under a Sent message, what you choose when a page suggests a jailbreak, and whether a calculator was connected when you downloaded a file. We use this to learn which calculators our programs need to support and why transfers fail. We do not read the calculator’s serial number or ID, and we do not collect the contents of the files on it or the programs and notes you write here. Outside the help chat, we do not collect the names of files that are not ours either.
Plexy, the Help Chat
The TI-84 Plus CE game pages, the TI-84 Plus CE math programs page, the jailbreak installer, and the TI-84 Evo game, math program, CAS and notes pages offer a help chat called Plexy. Plexy is an AI, not a person, and it can be wrong; the chat says so at the top. It only helps with putting programs and games on your calculator. It won’t answer anything else, and it won’t help with getting around test mode.
When you send a message, the page sends what you typed together with what it already knows about the problem: the error it showed, the page you are on, the kind of computer your browser says it is running on (Windows, Mac, Chromebook and so on), the calculator facts it read when it connected (the operating system version, the model and whether a jailbreak is installed), whether the calculator is connected, and which game or program was sent last and whether that worked. When the page has connected to your calculator, the chat also sees its free memory and the names and sizes of the files on it, so it can tell whether there is room and suggest what you could delete; it never sees what is inside those files. On TI-84 Evo pages the facts are the operating system version, the model’s hardware revision code, free memory, whether test mode is on and how the last program was sent. On the notes page it sees that notes were sent, never their names. If any of this changes during a chat, for example when your calculator connects, a jailbreak is installed or a game is sent or deleted, your next message carries the new facts. Your messages and these facts go to our server and from there to Anthropic, the company that provides the AI, which uses them to write each reply.
We keep a copy of each message and reply for 90 days so we can see which problems people run into and fix our pages and programs, then delete it automatically. Each copy holds a random number for the chat that is not linked to you, your browser or any other chat, the time, the facts above, what you typed, the reply, whether you tapped “Fixed it” or “Still stuck”, and the name of any game you ask us to add. We do not store your IP address with it, or anything about your browser beyond that kind of computer. We remove email addresses and phone numbers from what we keep, but please don’t type your name, email or other personal details into the chat.
To keep the chat from being misused, it uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that your browser is not an automated program, and our server counts messages per network address for a short time to limit how many can be sent. That count is not stored with the chat.
While a chat is open, your browser keeps it for that tab, so it stays when you move to another of our pages. It is deleted when you close the chat with its X, after an hour, or when you close the tab. Your browser also keeps one setting that decides whether error messages offer the chat, because we offer it to only some visitors to learn whether it helps; where the law asks for consent, it keeps this setting only if you agree to storage on your device in the consent message. In Google Analytics we count when the chat is opened, when a message is sent, the “Fixed it” and “Still stuck” taps, and which of the two groups your browser is in.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, or to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act. Because we do not collect information that directly identifies you, most requests relate to advertising and analytics cookies, which you can control with the tools above. To make a request or ask a question, contact us at contact@calcplex.com.
Children’s Privacy
CalcPlex publishes educational content about graphing calculators for a general audience. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by not knowingly collecting personal information from children under 13, and we ask our advertising partners not to serve personalized advertising to visitors identified as children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@calcplex.com and we will delete it.
Plexy, the help chat on our TI-84 Plus CE pages, is an AI and can be wrong, and it asks students not to type their name or other personal details. We remove email addresses and phone numbers from the copies of chats we keep, store no IP address with them, and delete them after 90 days.

The Website links to sites we do not operate, including download hosts and advertising partners. If you follow one of those links, that site’s own privacy policy and terms apply. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the content or practices of any third-party site.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information handled through the Website. No method of transmission or storage over the Internet is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Website after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
